  3. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form and fold into the chocolate mixture. Pour the mixture into tin.
  4. Bake cake for 1 hour. Stand cake in tin for 15 minutes and then turn top side on to the wire rack to cool.

This year I wanted to try something a little different, and I added ground hazelnuts to the flourless chocolate cake batter. Line bottom with waxed or parchment paper; grease paper. Add chocolate mixture and whisk until smooth. You could increase the amount of dark chocolate and decrease the amount of cocoa powder, if you like. I used a minimum amount of sugar, so please adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste.
